Specification

Our aim is to produce unique portable cabins to a very high quality to a specification similar to that required of new build dwellings. Our emphasis is on design and craftsmanship to create special spaces to be enjoyed with minimal maintenance for many years. We construct these at our own workshop in Cornwall using skilled local craftsmen. In order to make the most of the legal towing dimensions we custom build our own galvanised chassis. On top of these we build a strong wooden frame. This is not a lightweight touring caravan build; these are built to last with a strong frame more akin to modern timber house construction.

Once built, the trailer is hot dipped in zinc to galvanize all parts. This process prevents corrosion for up to 50 years.

We use only high quality, slow grown, tanalised soft woods for the timber frame, and hardwoods where possible.

The walls and ceilings are lined with a water membrane and insulated with Kingspan (a superior long term performance of metal faced insulated panels with rigid urethane cores) to provide a warm, moisture free environment.

Our traditional corrugated metal sheets are powder coated with a polyester paint finish. This gives them a life expectancy of 15-20 years in normal conditions. We then give the sheets a coloured paint finish with a glossy two-pack polyurethane topcoat that gives excellent weatherproof gloss and colour retention, to give them further protection. We also use a marine wood paint system for the doors and windows – or a marine varnish on other paints to give complete weather protection. We recommend repainting your corrugated sheets every 7-10 years and the external woodwork every 3-5 years to maintain its appearance and extend the life expectancy of your tabernacle.
